I grew up in London and because of that I’m keen to make it a second home for Pops and Baby R. Pops and I used to visit loads before Baby R came and once she’s a bit bigger we will continue to do so. There are so many family adventures in London to be had. It’s a busy but amazing place and somewhere I think everyone should get the chance to know.
5 family adventures in London:
This is a must do when in London with the kids. It’s the world’s largest toy shop. It’s also the oldest, dating back to 1760. Located on Regent Street in the heart of the West End, it boasts an incredible seven floors and contains over 50,000 different varieties of toys. They’ve recently opened up a new basement dedicated entirely to Star Wars.
THE RAINFOREST CAFE
Take a trip over to West London and visit the famous Rainforest Cafe at Piccadilly Circus. It’s been going for 20 years now and has become a favourite of both adults and kids alike. The selling point of this place is its designed as an exotic jungle which recreates the sights and sounds of the Amazon rainforest. Using special effects, you get to see and hear the weather changing and watch out for the many different animals that lurk behind the bushes, including elephants, jaguars, crocodiles, and gorillas. The Rainforest Cafe also has a wide selection on its menu that will please both adults and children.
JACK THE RIPPER TOUR
This is basically London’s number one creepy educational tour which families have been going on for generations. Like Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet-street, Jack the Ripper has become London’s top mythical bogeyman. The only difference being, he was very much a real character. The Jack the Ripper walking tour is best at night so you can take in all those atmospheric Victorian streets and alleyways. Both kids and adults will love the gruesome tales that are told along the way and as a bonus it’s a great way to educate the kids about what Jack the Ripper’s childhood would involve and the everyday life of a Victorian Londoner.
Perhaps the best adults and kids adventure in London is a visit to the Harry Potter studio set. It’s great seeing the behind the scenes props and layouts from the actual movie and there’s plenty for the kids to keep themselves entertained with. You can visit the Great Hall, see how all the animatronic creatures work and even catch a broom ride along the way.
SEA LIFE LONDON AQUARIUM
The great thing about the London aquarium is its located next to the iconic structures, of Westminster, Big Ben and the London Eye, so you can do a spot of sightseeing as you make your way to it. The kids will love the entrance to the attraction as you have this stunning glass walkway which reveals an ocean of sea life beneath your feet. Each part of the aquarium has a different theme to keep the little ones entertained and you can even play your very own game of “Finding Nemo”. Great fun for all.
Where would you love to go on your family adventure in London?
