There are ways you can add chalkboards into your home but i’m not a fan of the stickers for the walls or even painting a section of wall because I wouldn’t want Pops thinking that drawing on the wall is okay.

I’ve always love the idea of upcycling and now with a little one I find myself looking at things and wondering how I can use that to make something child friendly. I found a really nice large white framed picture in the charity shop and instantly thought of a big chalkboard.

A Upcycled frame into chalkboard, sounds easy enough right?

If you don’t want to spend out on a specific paint you may never use again then I saw a really easy recipe to make it at home.

What you’ll need;
8 parts paint; (This is where making it at home comes in nicely because you can use your preferred colour)
1 part unsanded grout.
(I’m not sure how effective and good that version is though… I just bought mine)

It’s going to take me a while because I didn’t prime it first so I recommend priming it, mainly because it means you’ll use less of your chalkboard paint and because you won’t need as many layers to make it opaque.

I think the final outcome is amazing. It’s exactly how I imagined it to be when I first saw the picture and it has given something that would have usually been discarded a new life.

Have you ever upcycled anything? If you try out this then let me know how it goes!
