Winter Wonderland Cardiff 2017

There’s a few things for me that make up the Christmas season, after seeing Santa, it’s Winter Wonderland.

This is the second year we’ve gone along to Winter Wonderland Cardiff and this time Pops was old enough to actually skate. MM and Pops went on and had an amazing time.

Winter Wonderland skating is so beautiful, it’s under cover and full of lights. Each skate session lasts an hour, which includes the time to get your skates on. The sessions are ticketed and usually pretty busy so it’s always best to book in advance. It’s recommended you arrive 15 minutes before your skate time too.

The skating age is 3+ which meant Pops could go on this year, we hired a penguin for her to use which are for people under 1.2 meters tall and are £5 to hire. I was amazed at how much she loved it, she didn’t last the full hour but most people didn’t. MM was like a big kid and wanted to stay for every second he could.

Not only does Winter Wonderland Cardiff have the skating rink, it also has an amazing funfair, authentic bierkeller and alpine village. If you go at the right time you can even meet Elsa!

The funfair rides were the same as last year from what we saw which was good because Pops spotted her favourite and her and MM went on. I think she forgot about the snow because she seemed pretty shocked when it sprayed out at them. To go on rides you need tokens which cost £1 and can be bought from a few places around Wonderland.

Winter Wonderland Cardiff is an amazing family day/night out and there’s plenty for everyone to do. It’s so fun and exciting in the day but even more beautiful and magical in the evening. Whether you go as a family with kids or as a group of adults you’ll find ways to keep entertained.
