Christmas gift ideas for kids 2018

When it comes to Christmas I think it’s safe to say the majority of money spent is on the kids. Right? Well in our house it is, so when buying I always want to make sure i’m getting value for money with something that will last and that will be thoroughly enjoyed.

Pops is 4 so the things in this list will be targeted at her age and things I think she (and like minded kids) would be happy to receive at Christmas;

Skates – £54.95

Okay, so i’m totally living vicariously through my daughter with how cute these are and how much they remind me of ice figure skates (without the blade). Our local park has just had a skate park added so these will get put to good use. She can wear the helmet she got at easter!

Power Tracks – £29.99

Kids toys are so exciting at the moment. There are so many STEM toys being brought out that I love. Power Tracks by John Adams is a brilliant way to introduce your kids to coding and circuits. There are 20 circuits to navigate and they can even make their own making for lots of playing time.

First Wonder Box – £7.99 (but you can get 50% off first box) Subscriptions start at £24.99 for 4 boxes.

Pops loves getting post so she would love something like this, a little gift through the door (once or every month) that she can open play with and learn from too.

Lego – Prices Vary

Lego is such a great choice, If you’re little one (or you with the mess) isn’t ready for little Lego pieces then Duplo is amazing too. Either get sets of just bricks to make your own designs or themes like Harry Potter and Disney. There’s so many great options.

DVDS-

Whether it’s part of an advent, a stocking filler or a main gift dvds go down a treat with kids. Get them their favourite show like paw patrol or someone they love watching on youtube like Jo Jo Siwa or even a nice family Christmas film to all sit and watch together like Elf on the Shelf pets. If you have a fan of Teen Titans Go! then check out the new DVD where they go to the movies, the DVD even comes with a digital download so you can watch it anywhere.

BOOKS-

Books are the perfect gift because not only do they allow kids to learn and use their imagination but you get to spend quality time together while you’re reading too. Bloomsbury have some gorgeously illustrated ones that are perfect for Christmas like Mince Spies and We’re Going on an Elf Chase and other books like Fantastically Great Women Who Made History and Wild Facts About Nature that are perfect all year round.

Hydroliner and Elasticycle –

Jakks Pacific have brought out a range of Incredibles 2 toys and if your little one is anything like Pops and enjoyed the film then they will love recreating the film and becoming supers themselves. I think it’s so important to get kids learning toys and books but we can’t forget that they’re kids and they just want something fun they can play. Toys like this are great for imagination too!

One Dear World Dolls – Jun and Hope.

These multicultural soft dolls are adorable. When you buy your doll you can get a free e-book (or hard copy for £5) In this book your little one learns all about other cultures while seeing the sites London has to offer. I can’t wait to take Pops to the places in the book next time we’re in London.

Quentin Blake X Science Museum –

If you’ve seen any guides on what to do in London with kids the Science Museum will be on there. It’s such a fun and interactive place for kids to enjoy and learn from. The Museum is free but they also have the Wonder Lab which you pay to go in, we’ve been and it’s totally worth the money. We spent pretty much the whole day in there and could have stayed longer. Outside the wonder lab for all to enjoy they have brand new illustrations of objects and scientists from the Science Museum Group’s extensive and historical collection. You can even buy these on things like colouring books and postcards in the shop.

Games –

Anyone that knows me will know I LOVE Orchard Toys, any time I see them in the charity shop I have to buy them and our collection is getting pretty big. They are so well made and really fun to play. We were sent Giraffes in scarves, Superhero Lotto and What a performance and I’m so excited to play these! Another one of my favourite Orchard Toy games is the Rocket game. If you’re looking for something fun and education (and something you can play together) for your little one then I highly recommend these games.

What’s that smell?

I used to love scratch and sniff things and this game takes things to a whole new level. It’s going to be such fun to play at Christmas with everyone around. I’ll defo be sharing clips on Instagram Stories!

More books –

Carlton Books have such a great range of STEM books for kids to enjoy and learn from. If you’re little one is anything like Pops or the other children I know then they will be FULL of questions. There are so many great choices from powerful women to Mr Bean’s joke book.

Messy toys –

This may be something you want to buy other people’s kids but let’s face it, kids love mess! Zimpli kids have a range of things to keep them entertained. Slime Baff, Gelli Baff and SnoBall Play. Just check out youtube to see how popular these are. I will be giving some away on Instagram so keep an eye on there!

Arts and Crafts-

Little Brian Paint Sticks are amazing. Honestly. If you haven’t tried them then you need to and if you have i’m sure you agree with me. They are the so easy to use and pretty much mess free (compared to how messy normal paints are anyway).

Sylvanian Families –

Pop’s has been asking for these for over a year now but I wanted to make sure she was old enough to really look after them. There are so many options when it comes to Sylvanian Families it’s the perfect toy to start collecting.

Design a Friend –

Since going to the Design a Friend VIP party we’ve fallen in love with these dolls. They are so sweet and have amazing accessories and outfits. Whether you have one doll you buy loads of accessories for or a bunch of dolls who share each others clothes they are such a lovely gift idea. Download your little one the free printable so they can design their own outfits!

If you have any gift suggestions then let me know in the comments!

Until the next post,

Are and Pops.
